But women - and, of course, men - really liked the innovation, and when the British Vogue first published a picture of a miniskirt on its pages, it instantly became a bestseller worldwide. This even led to the fact that in 1966, Mary Kuant received the Order of the British Empire from the hands of the Queen herself for her special economic services - the development of light industry and increased exports.You can guess what Mary appeared at the award ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Emancipation symbol
It soon became clear that mini dresses and skirts are not just another fashion sensation, which is destined for a short life. After the respectable fashion of the 50s, it was a kind of challenge to society and a sign of female emancipation.
