We have collected several workshops on slippers and felt boots of different styles, which you can do yourself.
1. Do-it-yourself slippers-open-toed slippers: master class
Universal option. Slippers are sewn from cotton fabric, non-woven / doublerin and synthetic winterizer are used for strengthening and volume. Just say about the material for the sole. If it is important that it does not slip, you can use leather or eco-leather, special material for the soles (usually a natural or synthetic fabric with rubber dots-pimples), take microporous rubber (foamiran) or purchased insoles from a material with suitable properties. In other cases, any dense material is suitable for the sole to hold its shape. By the way, purchased insoles can also serve as a reinforcer for the sole of slippers (you need to strengthen the sole, otherwise it will be uncomfortable to walk).
You will need:
- fabric for the front and back sides of slippers;
- synthetic winterizer for the volume of the top of slippers;
- a fairly dense non-woven fabric or other material to strengthen the sole;
- material for the sole or purchased insoles;
- paper, pencil and scissors for patterns;
- scissors for fabric;
- clamps;
- iron;
- sewing machine and thread.
Step 1
First you need to make a pattern of the sole and top of the slippers. How to do it, read here. If you sew open-toed slippers, as in our example, also outline a neckline.
Step 2
We cut out the details. For each slipper you need: 1 part from the material for the sole, 1 part of the sole from the sealant, 1 part of the sole from the fabric, 2 details of the top of the slippers from the fabric (1 of fabric for the lining and 1 of the fabric for the outside), 1 detail of the top of the slippers from synthetic winterizer.
Step 3
Fold the details of the top of the slippers from the fabric with the front sides inwards and sew along the long sides. Cut triangles in the middle from the top and bottom (see photo), not reaching 2 mm to the seams.
Step 4
Turn out the details of the top of the slippers, iron and place the synthetic winterizer inside.
Step 5
Clamp the top of the slipper to the sole part of the fabric (see photo).
From the top, attach the bottom part of the sole upside down (see photo). Repeat for the second slipper.
Step 6
Sew the details around the perimeter, leaving a hole for turning out. Cut corners on the toe and heel (see photo). Repeat for the second slipper.
Step 7
Turn out the slippers and insert the seal inside. Repeat for the second.
Step 8
Stitch the bottom of the slippers while suturing the holes. Done.

2. Closed-toe slippers
These slippers are similar to the previous ones. They differ in a closed toe and the presence of decor from ribbons. Read the detailed master class here.

3. Do-it-yourself felt slippers
Cozy warm felt slippers are sewn by hand from just one piece!
You will need:
- printer and paper to print the pattern;
- felt;
- pencil or marker for fabric;
- scissors;
- fairly thick durable thread and needle for hand sewing.
Step 1
Print and cut the pattern (pattern and dimensional grid here).
Step 2
Cut 2 mirrored parts from the felt, transfer and also make t-shaped cuts.
Step 3
Fold the slippers and sew over the edge manually. First, we sew a vertical seam on the heel, without suturing 1.2–2 cm from the bottom (depending on the size of the slippers). A little cut 1.5–2 cm felt in 2 places on the heel to create a valve. Round its corners. Screw the valve up and sew. Sew a long seam. Wrap the lapel and, if desired, sew it on.

5. Do-it-yourself homemade boots / boots

6. Terry slippers from old flip flops (flip flops)
Cute terry slippers are sewn from old Vietnamese slippers. As a fabric for slippers, you can use, for example, a terry towel. For recommendations on the choice of material for the sole, see 1 workshop.
You will need:
- terry cloth;
- unnecessary slippers;
- material for the sole;
- synthetic winterizer;
- pencil or marker for fabric;
- tape measure;
- scissors;
- clamps;
- sewing machine and thread.
Step 1
Release the slippers from the straps. Circle the soles on the material for the bottom of the slippers (artificial leather is used here).
Step 2
Add 1.5 cm to the allowances on all sides and cut out the details.
Step 3
Using the cut out details of the sole as patterns, cut the same details out of terry cloth and synthetic winterizer.
Step 4
Measure the sole around the perimeter + measure its thickness.
Cut 2 side pieces from terry cloth and synthetic winterizer: add 5 cm to the obtained strip length, and 2-3 cm to the width.
Step 5
Mark the pattern for the upper part of the slippers. Read more about how to do this here.
Cut 2 pieces of top for each slipper out of terry cloth.
Step 6
Using the details of the terry cloth milestone as patterns, cut 1 of the same synthetic pad details for each slipper. Cut 1.5 cm below each part.
Step 7
Sew the details of the upper parts of the slippers in the bottom line (see photo). Allowances - 1.5 cm. Turn out and insert a synthetic winterizer.
Step 8
Fix the synthetic winterizer, laying a line 1.2 cm from the edge.
Step 9
Sew the sole details from synthetic winterizer and terry cloth. The allowance is 1.2 cm.
Step 10
Tuck one of the edges of the strip (see photo) and sew the strip to the bottom of the artificial leather sole.
Sew the edges of the strip manually.
Cut corners on the details of artificial leather, not reaching the seam 1−2 mm.
Note: It was originally planned to add stripes of synthetic winterizer to the side parts from the inside, but it was decided to abandon this because of the extra volume.
Step 11
Assemble the slipper parts in the sequence shown in the photo. Sew along the perimeter, leaving a rather wide hole on the heel (the sole from the slipper will be inserted into it).
Step 12
Turn out the slippers. Insert inside the sole. Sew holes manually.
