This workshop is about how to remake simple pockets with a detachable skirt for original skirts in vintage style.
These pockets change the appearance of a rather neutral skirt with pleats, giving it the charm of a vintage thing: such pockets were worn around the middle of the last century. Here, the skirt pattern with simple pockets with a detachable barrel is converted into such an original one. You can also redo the pattern of trousers or shorts.
Seam pocket processing with flap
You will need:
- Pattern of your skirt (trousers, shorts);
- tracing paper;
- a pencil;
- wide range;
- fabric for decoration;
- scissors;
- tailor pins;
- 2 buttons;
- threads and needle for hand sewing;
- sewing machine and thread.
Double-lined patch pocket processing
Step 1
Transfer the pattern of the front panel of the skirt to the tracing paper, but do not cut it. Extend your waist and sides so that they intersect at right angles.
Step 2
Cut out the pattern, outline what kind of pocket entrance you need (given that it will be at an angle of 45 degrees), and fold the pattern as shown in the photo. Put marks at the bend points (in the photo these places are indicated by arrows).
Step 3
Change the pocket burlap detail as described in step 1. Move the marks as well.
Step 4
Cut out the detail of the front panel and the main fabric, the detail of the burlap-gap from the main fabric, the detail of the burlap-wrapping from the fabric for decoration. Move tags to parts. Fold the detail of the front panel and burlap sutures face to face, sew as shown in the photo. Turn, iron, unscrew the corner and iron. Then grind the burlap-gap and work on the edge. Sew a pocket on top and side.
Step 5
Designate a place for buttons and sew them.
