Contrasting lapels for jeans can be done using an unnecessary t-shirt or jersey flaps.

Using an unnecessary t-shirt or a pair of jersey flaps, you can make such contrasting lapels for jeans. It is better to take thin, well-stretched knitwear. Here different parts of the T-shirt with the American flag are used, and the lapels are made different - you can take, for example, a plain knitwear and paint it with indelible felt-tip pen for the fabric the way you want. It is better not to use thick acrylic for painting: after drying, it will make the knitwear stiff, and the cuffs will not lie very well. You can dye knitwear and liquid dye for the fabric.

How to make DIY scuffs on jeans

Step 1

Turn the jeans inside out and straighten the legs. From the knitwear, cut the flaps for the cuffs, using the legs as a template. Leave more allowances, then you can cut them. First sew on the bottom of the knit by tucking the cuff in. Then straighten the knitwear and pin it to the side and step seams with pins.

Step 2

Now sew the knitwear along the step and side seams, tucking the parts. Done.

Turn out the jeans and tuck the legs.
