This blanket is quilted with “waves” and decorated with marine embroidery.

A quilted blanket can be used as a direct blanket, as a light blanket and as a cover for the beach. This specimen is definitely primarily intended for beach holidays, and the materials and decoration for it are selected accordingly.

Hand-sewn quilt: master class

Step 1

Determine the size of the blanket you need. Here it is about 110x110 cm. Cut out the details from 2 types of fabric: 2 from fabric for the top of the blanket (110x110 cm and 115x115 cm) and 1 from fabric for the bottom (110x110 cm). On the part for the top of the blanket, find a place to embroider - wherever you like. You can embroider a beluga whale, as in our example, or whatever you want. Embroider.

Step 2

Cut the part from batting 115x115 cm. Assemble the sandwich: the part of the top of the blanket with the wrong side up, the large part of the same fabric with the wrong side up, batting, the fabric part for the bottom face up. Chip all layers with a few safety pins.

Step 3

Place the transporting foot on the machine and quilting the blanket. You can not specifically draw lines, quilting "sea waves."

Step 4

Trim the edges of the blanket evenly with a roller knife.

Step 5

For strips, cut out strips 6.5 cm wide. If necessary, sew short strips into longer ones, iron the seams. Fold the strips in half along the wrong side inside and fasten the fold with an iron. Attach the stripes to the edge of the bottom of the blanket with the fold down, pin with pins and stitch, backing away from the edge of 3 mm. Wrap corners (see photo).

Step 6

Wrap the edge of the strip with a fold on the upper side of the blanket and sew it by hand, as shown in the photo. You can sew a line on the machine, but the manual seam gives an additional decorative effect.

Done.
