Such covers will help protect the armrests from damage and contamination, and hide existing ones.
If the armrests of a sofa or armchairs are soft and covered with fabric, like the entire sofa, then, as a rule, they get dirty or get mechanical damage in the first place. Covers that are worn on the armrests can protect them from dirt and damage or hide existing ones. You can sew covers from the material that most closely matches the material of the main cover of the sofa, or make them contrasty, supporting with decorative pillows or a plaid.
For example, here the armrests were exposed to the cat’s claws:
Covers helped hide the damage.
For covers it is better to take a dense, well-kept, durable material.

How to sew a sofa cover: 3 workshops
Step 1
After putting paper on the armrest, make part templates for the cover.
Cut out the details by adding 1.5 cm allowances (in the diagram - the required number of parts for one cover).
If the armrests are rounded, then part B must be changed accordingly.
Step 2
Here, the details are connected by a French seam so as not to leave open sections of fabric. How the French seam is performed is described in detail here.
You can connect the parts with a simple line, and process the edges with a zigzag, or sew them on an overlock.
So, first we connect the two parts B and part C on the long sides.
Perform the following seams in the sequence shown in the diagram.
Step 3
It remains to process the edges. Twist them 0.75 cm and lay the stitch to the edge.
