But in the 19th century, a turning point happened in the history of the cardigan - the famous British dandy, warlord James Thomas Brudenell, the seventh Earl of Cardigan, ordered his soldiers to wear warm woolen sweatshirts under their uniform — without a collar and fastened in front.

I must say that the regiment of Count Cardigan and without this innovation was extremely stylish and was considered the most elegant in Europe! In addition to his outstanding military skills, the count had the unshakable confidence that, regardless of the circumstances, he and his soldiers should look perfect in any situation.
