Mulled wine warms in a cold, energizes, treats for colds. And this is not all its advantages.
It turns out that mulled wine, popular in many countries of the world today, was loved back in Ancient Rome. In the cookbook of those times, among other recipes, scientists found a description of an unknown drink, which in addition to wine included spices: cinnamon, thyme, cloves and coriander. There is a version that small shopkeepers came up with spices and honey and then warmed it up in the distant Middle Ages in order to quickly sell unsuccessful, not in demand, and sometimes just sour varieties.
According to doctors, thanks to spices, honey and fruits, which are also customary to add to mulled wine, it is useful in recovering from infectious diseases, colds, runny nose, cough, insomnia and depression.
Determine the temperature of mulled wine for taste, the drink should be hot, but not burning. Otherwise, there will be no benefit. As for strong alcohol, cognac, rum, and liquors are suitable for mulled wine. But! Add them little by little so as not to spoil the taste of wine and seasonings. They are the main ones in this union.
Instead of sugar, mulled wine is best added with honey. From seasonings - cinnamon!

■ Do not bring mulled wine to a boil. The temperature should be no more than 70 ° C, keep it on fire until the white foam disappears on the surface.
