In products made of cotton matting, tweed, boucle and other types of bulk fabrics, difficulties arise most often with the processing of allowances and open sections.
Due to the loose structure of the fabric, the threads open easily and, in order to fix them in place, sometimes you have to resort to various tricks and unusual methods of processing.
In this master class, we will consider one of the most affordable and simple ways - processing slices of loose fabrics on an overlock. As an example, cotton matting in the style of Chanel is used.

Step 1
Cut out the details of the product with allowances of 2–2.5 cm. This is a necessary condition for loose fabrics, since during the sewing process, the cut will open, some of the threads will fall out of it. In addition, large allowances allow you to process the cut as accurately as possible and without any difficulties.

On the overlock, use the stitch length adjuster to set a larger value, since narrow processing is not suitable for loose fabrics.
The larger the number, the longer the stitch.
Step 4
Slices are processed with a four-thread seam, it is he who allows you to capture the widest section of the slice.
It is also possible to process cuts of allowances and a three-thread seam. But for this it is necessary to remove the right needle, leaving only the left.
In this case, a three-thread overlock stitch will correspond to a four-thread seam in width.

Important!
Cons of processing cuts and allowances in products from loose fabrics with a three-thread seam with right needle that in the process of wearing, the narrow seam quickly loses its appearance, since its wear resistance is very low.
